MESSAGE: Affirmation of Identity

The State Board received several questions regarding the Affirmation of Identity.  At the request of a locality, the Board expanded the form to request additional identifying information from the voter.  Staff posted the revised form for comment, the Board adopted the form, and USDOJ subsequently pre-cleared it this past summer.  The revised form asks for the following pieces of information: the voter’s name, signature, the last four digits of the SSN, date of birth, residential address, and telephone.

In accordance with Sec. 24.2-643(B) of the Code of Virginia, only the first two items (name and signature) are required.  The last four items are requested but not required.  Therefore, if a voter signs and prints their name but does not provide any additional information, the affirmation of identity shall be accepted.

Senator Webb in Prince William County Supporting Gerry Connolly this Saturday

October 29, 2010

Please join Senator Jim Webb and Congressman Gerry Connolly for a pre-canvassing rally at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Prince William County Democratic Headquarters in Woodbridge.  After the brief rally with Senator Webb and Congressman Connolly, volunteers will fan out to do some critical, last minute door-knocking and canvassing in the Woodbridge area.  The race in the 11th Congressional District is going to be extremely close, and your help can make a difference!

In its editorial endorsement of October 21, 2010, the Washington Post said it best when it declared: “Mr. Connolly has distinguished himself in his first term in office by being elected president of the House Democrats freshman class.  His command of local issues in Northern Virginia is impressive, as is his forward-looking advocacy for mass transit options to ease traffic.  And Mr. Connolly has established himself as a fiscal moderate, for instance by opposing higher taxes on the wealthy to finance health-care reform. He deserves re-election.”

Gerry needs your help now!  Please join us this Saturday.

What: Pre-canvassing Rally with Senator Webb and Congressman Connolly

Where: Prince William County Democratic Headquarters; 4326 Dale Boulevard, Woodbridge, VA 22193   (Glendale Plaza Shopping Center at the intersection of Minnieville Road and Dale Boulevard.)

“24 Hours of Tom” Covering Virginia’s 5th District

October 25, 2010

Perriello for Congress

And we’re off!  It’s midnight, and I’m kicking off a 24-hour nonstop campaign blitz–20 stops across the 5th district over the next 24 hours. My first stop is hosting a late-night study session with students at Ferrum College.  Next I’m headed to Dudley’s Truck Stop Restaurant to listen to the hard working folks in Rocky Mount.

If you’re up grabbing a midnight snack, watching infomercials or feeding the baby, follow my tweets and updates over the next 24 hours at http://www.perrielloforcongress.com/24hoursoftom.

You work hard and you deserve a Congressman who works hard too. I hope I’ve proved that to you over the past 21 months, and I look forward to seeing y’all out there over the next 24 hours.

Blessings, Tom
