Springfield, Virginia Construction Site Gets Visit From President Obama Pushing Stimulus Plan

President Barack Obama traveled today to a construction site in Springfield, Virginia to push for the quick passage of the stimulus bill working its way through Congress … I encourage you to watch the video of his remarks … it was interrupted toward the end by a technical glitch but most of what he said was covered … I also encourage you to call you members of Congress and let them know you support getting a stimulus bill to President Obama’s desk “As Soon As Possible” … Senate switchboard: 202-224-3121 … House switchboard: 202-225-3121 …

NOTE: The infrastructure project President Obama visited would complete the Fairfax County Parkway (designed to help traffic flow to and from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency at Fort Belvoir) … I’ve learned two more phases of the project have not yet been funded … Governor Tim Kaine is quoted as saying that If the money can be provided via the economic stimulus package “hundreds of on-site construction jobs will be created and 2,000 related jobs in other industries … the Governor provided estimates there would be “$70 million of economic effect locally.”
