i’ve been asked to pass this along … it’s important to reach out to our veteran, men and women in uniform, and their families to discuss the impact the outcome this year’s presidential race will have on their lives:
The National Launch of Veterans and Military Families for Obama will be on May 17th at 6:30PM (doors open at 6PM) on the Lido Patio at the Half-Moone Convention Center (which is a part of the Nauticus Maritime Museum Complex) in Norfolk, VA.
We will be joined by the Mr. Beau Biden, Attorney General of Delaware and son of Vice President Joe Biden, Virginia State Senator Ralph Northam, and Mr. Rob Diamond, the National Veterans Vote Director for the Obama Campaign.
With the Naval Museum and the USS Wisconsin (a decommissioned Battleship now a part of the Nauticus) adjacent to this picturesque location, we hope that our veterans, their families, and military supporters throughout Virginia and neighboring states will come out and participate.
At the event we will also be taking non-perishable goods as donations for Vets House, a non-profit that supports homeless veterans in the Hampton Roads area located Virginia Beach, VA. Homelessness within the veteran community continues to be an issue nation-wide and we hope our attendees will help support this non-partisan effort.
Finally, following the event on Saturday May 19th we are having a National Day of Action in which we conduct heavy voter registration and phone banking efforts throughout the Commonwealth. 5 Locations have been specifically selected for veteran VR efforts.
